I've been disaffected with the church -- off and on -- from 1985 till 1993, haven't stepped foot in a church since sometime in 1996, and have told some Scieno friends and relatives that I'm "out of it" since the summer of 1997. I still have money on account at a couple different orgs, but will leave it there for the same reason that I post anonymously: I don't want the CoS trying to turn my family and friends against me. I really don't care if the CoS wants to harass me personally, but would not want to be driven to sue for visitation rights, and don't want the CoS telling my children that I'm a criminal, or that I am working against their happiness. One of the reasons I post to a.r.s is because I know a lot about $cientology. Some of it I consider good and will battle with critics to defend it; but the main things I object to are the anti-social policies that the CoS follows -- and they will never change them -- and the idiotic pro-CoS posters who push this crap on a.r.s. They do this *only* in an attempt to confuse and subvert any organized thinking process, or group agreement. The CoS is terrified of free speech and the Internet. They know that their policies, when brought out in the open, will reveal the dark side of $cientology which in the past they've always managed to keep the lid on by harassing and suing individuals who spoke out. The other reason I post to a.r.s is the double-entendre of my screen name, NoGoot: Scn sends lots of mail out saying "Go OT!" I say "No Go OT!" because the OT levels are No Goot[d]! If people are made aware that the OT[tm] levels have never produced an OT as Hubbard[tm] described them, not to mention that there has never been a "clear" produced as Hubbard described it in DMSMH[tm], and that Hubbard lived at least the last 6 years of his life as a completely certifiable psychotic -- as is obviously seen in some of the last photos of him; then maybe they won't be pressured into investing their life savings, or mortgaging their house for the pipe dream of the OT Levels. I do, however, support the free use and distribution of "clearing tech" as compiled by other individuals, but I don't think it should be referred to as $cientology. (If it's Hubbard's work, call it that.) $cientology is what it is: All of Hubbard's works -- Hubbard put out more written and oral work than one person can study in 20 years. Obviously, only a complete idiot would insist that all of his work was wrong; therefore some of what is called "Scientology[tm]" is workable and people should be allowed to use that without fear of being sued by some jealous alter-ego of LRonHubard's, known collectively as the Church of $cientology.
