Ron Hubbard and so much more you'll want to hit the "mute" >button on your brain's micro-transmitter. > I have this tape. The cut is from Battlefield Earth and is cheesy synth muzak. "March of the Psychlos" is the name of this particular gem. No vocals, except a distorted electronicky sounding voice that appears to be saying "Yo! Yo! Yo! Fart! Fart! Fart!" As Dave Barry would say, I am not making this up! Oh yes, and there are a few grunts in there too. Hubbard? I don't know, but it is possible. From the liner notes in the origianl album: "March of the Psychlos Evil incarnate! A gigantic race of the alien monsters, Psychlos, has crushed the life from the planets and ransacks her broken bones for gold and other minerals. (Sort of like Scientology.) What's left of humanity is withering away in slavery. Psychlos derive their pleasure from inflicting death and suffering on humans." (Sort of like Vera). Scientology offshoot Eckankar's Darwin Sri Gross also has a cut on this tape, a really bouncy and painfuly earnest but clumsy piece of inspirational new agey sounding propaganda. If you ignore the words, the tune is almost pleasant. If anybody else gets this catalogue, check out the George Coleman CD, Bongo Joe on Arhoolie, finally out on CD. Bongo Joe was a street 'musician' who's only instrument was a steel oil drum. 'Tuned' by artfully slashing the top in a peculiar fashion with a boy scout hatchet, Bongo Joe would occasionally retune his instrument with said hatchet to the amazement of San Antonio tourists at the Alamo where he used to play. Amazing stuff. Bongo Joe was a funny guy. Both funny haha, and funny peculiar. As one catalogue once said, it is not the sounds of coy steel drums, it is the sound of an oil drum being slapped around with heavy things. If a train could dance it would sound like this. Some of his accompanying rants will stop a party in it's tracks. Originally recorded on the street in the 70's. (Good recording.) His song, Poor Innocent Little Doggy was long an underground hit on KPFT radio where I used to occasionally play this. Awe inspiring weirdness. A favorite record of mine. Glad to see it on CD.
